BBC131M4C1 Concept of Distorted Thinking (3 credit hours)
The student is introduced to the concept of "distorted thinking." This is a more wide-spread concept than most people believe, due-to the lack of biblical understanding concerning this issue. The Bible is clear that "as a man thinks in his heart, so is he." (Proverbs 23:7) Most learning occurs outside of the church; most people function in DISTORTED THINKING - FLESH.



EDU290M4C2 Skills for Learning, Skills for Life and Skills for Work: Curriculum for Excellence Building Life Skills (3 credit hours)
Issues of communication, problem-solving, active listening and perspective-taking will begin the course. Parenting styles, skills, and training programs will be outlined. Impact of the community, its resources and its referral systems will be discussed. Awareness of familial diversity and multicultural issues will be stressed throughout the course. This course examines the physical, social-emotional, and intellectual development of the child from birth through adolescence using a stage approach. Some emphasis is placed on prenatal influences and modern scientific methods of treating the unborn. Students will become acquainted with various aspects of child care and guidance of preschool age children.

This course is an examination of emotional problems, their antecedents and consequences with a special emphasis on the destructiveness of sin. The course will look at different methods of assessing psychological problems. This course is designed to introduce students to both formal and informal marriage and family assessment methods. An overview of marriage and family assessment instruments will be a part of this courseā€¦ in addition to formal assessment strategies. The major goal in this course is to lead students to an understanding of the various stages families go through and the influences that bear on each stage of development and how the family can be strengthened through each stage of its development

Paul stated that whenever possible we are to live our lives at peace, especially within the household of faith. In our day, we need to learn the pattern for gracious living. This course is about the integration of Christian faith and social work practice. The course does not only offer a Christian perspective on the social work profession as a whole, but it explores Christian faith on specific topics within the profession. Students explore the intercept between faith and social work practice.
